About us

Our story

Threads of Himalayas.

BUNAI began with a simple belief: what we wear can tell the story of where we come from.

Born in Uttarakhand, BUNAI draws inspiration from the mountains, the people, the craft and the traditions that have shaped Himalayan life for generations. Here, weaving is more than a craft—it is a language. Every thread, pattern and handmade detail carries a memory of the land and the people who call it home.

We wanted to bring that language into the present.

BUNAI is our way of connecting heritage with contemporary identity—transforming the visual culture of Uttarakhand into clothing that feels relevant today. From traditional motifs and Aipan-inspired patterns to the colours, landscapes and stories of the Himalayas, every design begins with something rooted in our culture.

But BUNAI isn't about putting tradition behind glass.

It is about wearing it, living it and carrying it forward.

We believe culture stays alive when the next generation finds its own way to express it. That's why our pieces are designed for everyday life—modern silhouettes, thoughtful details and timeless designs, inspired by generations of Himalayan craftsmanship.

We also believe the people behind the craft matter as much as the product itself. As BUNAI grows, our aim is to create meaningful connections with local artisans, communities and makers, while building a brand that gives Himalayan stories a place in the wider world.

We don't just make clothes.
We weave identity.

BUNAI is for those who carry their roots with pride.

For those who believe tradition can be modern.
For those who see culture as something to be lived, not just remembered.

Woven by culture.
Inspired by Uttarakhand.
Made for today.

BUNAI — Threads of Himalayas.

Clothing should be a quiet expression of the life you choose to live.

Our values

At BUNAI, every piece begins with a story and every story begins with a connection—to the land, to culture, to people and to the generations that came before us.

01

ROOTED

We know where we come from. Our inspiration begins in Uttarakhand—the mountains, villages, traditions, art and everyday life of the Himalayas. We draw from our roots not to recreate the past, but to carry its spirit forward.

02

AUTHENTIC

Real stories. Real people. Real culture. We believe culture deserves to be represented with honesty and respect. Our designs are inspired by the places, people and traditions that genuinely shape Himalayan life.

03

ARTISANAL

Craft is a story told by hand. We celebrate the knowledge and craftsmanship passed down through generations. We believe traditional skills and contemporary design can exist together—and become something truly meaningful.

04

TIMELESS

Beyond trends. Made to last. We aren't chasing what is fashionable today and forgotten tomorrow. We create pieces with enduring aesthetics, thoughtful design and a sense of identity that grows with time.

05

CONSCIOUS

Better choices, thoughtfully made. We believe fashion should respect the people who make it and the world we live in. We strive toward responsible materials, mindful production and stronger communities as BUNAI grows.

06

CULTURAL PRIDE

Wear it. Live it. Carry it forward. Culture stays alive when it becomes part of everyday life. We want the next generation to wear their heritage with confidence—not as nostalgia, but as a modern expression of who they are.

07

LOCAL IMPACT

From the Himalayas, for the Himalayas. BUNAI aims to create opportunities for local makers, artisans and communities while bringing Himalayan stories to audiences far beyond the mountains.

We will always respect the roots that inspire us.

Because BUNAI is more than clothing.

It is a thread between generations.
A connection to home.
A modern expression of culture.

WEAR YOUR ROOTS.
CARRY YOUR CULTURE.

Our Vision

To Put the Himalayas on the World’s Wardrobe

We envision a world where culture is not confined to museums, memories or special occasions—but becomes part of everyday life.

BUNAI aims to build a contemporary Indian clothing brand that brings the stories, artistry and cultural identity of Uttarakhand to the world, through clothing that feels modern, relevant and unmistakably rooted.

Our vision goes beyond creating garments.

We want to create a platform where Himalayan culture, contemporary design and local craftsmanship meet.

Where an ancient motif can become a modern graphic.
Where a traditional craft can inspire a new generation.
Where a young person can wear their roots with pride.
And where the world can discover the Himalayas through what we create.

FROM LOCAL ROOTS TO GLOBAL IDENTITY

We aspire to build BUNAI into a brand that represents Uttarakhand beyond tourism and stereotypes—showing its people, creativity, craftsmanship, stories and living culture.

As we grow, we envision working more closely with local artisans and communities, creating opportunities that help traditional skills survive, evolve and reach new audiences.

OUR FUTURE

We see BUNAI growing beyond clothing into a cultural design house from the Himalayas—exploring apparel, textiles, accessories, art, collaborations and experiences inspired by the region.

Not by copying tradition.

By carrying it forward.

Because we believe the future of culture is not about preserving it exactly as it was.

It is about giving it a future.

To make Himalayan culture a part of the modern world—one thread, one story and one generation at a time.
